What Is Woodturning?
Woodturning (a.k.a. turnery) is the art of carving wood into a round shape with radial symmetry. This is achieved using a lathe to spin a block of wood against hand-held carving tools. Different tools can help produce different forms. One who practices this craft is called a turner or woodturner. Woodturning can produce candlesticks, tool handles, bowls, lamps, ornaments, furniture legs, and more. Your imagination is the limit!
What Are Turning Blanks?
Turning blanks are the rough blocks of wood, acrylic, or epoxy resin that are placed on the lathe and carved into the final product. Turning blanks come in a wide variety of sizes to suit the needs of any project. We currently offer over 50 species of wood turning blanks!
